Respiration is the most prime and vital feature of all living beings — the very process that keeps organism alive.
The respiratory system helps our body exchange gases with the environment. Its main job is to bring oxygen into the body and remove carbon dioxide. It also warms, moistens, and cleans the air we breathe, keeping harmful particles out. The major organs of this system are the nose, sinuses, throat, voice box (larynx), windpipe (trachea), airways (bronchi), and lungs. The larynx has the vocal cords, which allow us to produce sounds and speak.
